CONTEXT

You Again is an online store that sells food products that have been created by using ancient healing ingredients. Previously the website was build by the owner without any design influence and by conducting a UX audit on the website, the business owner wanted to improve the user experience and change the current designs to more user friendly. Long term goal for the business is to increase the conversion rate and to become more competitive on the market.

WHAT IS UX AUDIT

A UX audit is a process that evaluates the usability and user experience of a website or application. It involves research, analysis, evaluation, recommendations, and implementation. The evaluator uses a combination of methods such as user testing, expert review, and analytics review to identify usability issues and suggest improvements to enhance the user experience. A UX audit can be a valuable tool for improving the effectiveness and engagement of a website.

WHY UX AUDIT

Why Is UX audit important

A UX (user experience) audit is a valuable process for evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of a website or application. It involves analyzing the various components that make up the user experience, such as the website's layout, content, and navigation, and identifying areas that could be improved. Conducting a UX audit is important because it helps to identify areas of the website that are not working well for users and may be causing frustration or confusion. By understanding the pain points and challenges that users are experiencing, businesses can make informed decisions on how to improve the user experience and make it more effective. A well-executed UX audit can lead to increased user engagement, improved conversion rates, and a higher level of customer satisfaction. Overall, a UX audit is an essential tool for businesses that want to ensure that their website or application is meeting the needs and expectations of their users.

MAIN FINDINGS

Poor Organization

Why does navigation bar matter?

The navigation bar of your website holds significant importance as it serves as a guide for users to access the most crucial pages on your site. Besides, an effectively designed UX navigation bar can also highlight the range of products and services you offer.

Navigation

What should we focus on:

  • Prioritize consistency
  • Design clear interactions
  • Avoid deep navigation

Navigation Recommendation

Main Accessibility issues

  1. Color Contrast -> some text on the image didn't comply with the WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
  2. Too many navigation links -> website wasn't properly organized.
  3. Small buttons -> especially in mobile version, this can cause a user to mistype.
  4. Small font -> hard to read the text.
Information & Visual overload

Most of the website's context was placed on the landing page, including some of the products, recipies and blog posts - this can easily cause visual overload for a user (the page is too cluttered).

OUTCOME

After the UX audit I created a list of actionable recommendations for improving the user experience of their website. These recommendations included design changes, content updates, and improvements to the website's functionality. The company then chose to implement these recommendations in order to improve the user experience of their website and hired us to do a website redesign based on the UX audit findings.
